The “Stefan Wagner Group” began to perform live in the 1980s, the band was playing mainly in the well-known Viennese Live – Clubs “America Latina”, “Andino” and “Tunnel”, but also in the context of students- and street festivals. After its re-establishment in 1997, the band played its first major concerts as the opening act of Simon Phillips and on the Danube Island Festival.
Since the release of the first CD “Listen Well” in 2004 until the end of 2010 the “Stefan Wagner Group” has played about 150 concerts. Among them were many highlights:?
April 2004: Presentation of the first CD in “Jazzland” in Vienna
July 2005: Jazzfest Wiesen
April 2006: Prague – jazz club “Reduta” (the concert was sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague)
October 2007: the band got the “Winterkasten Jazz Award” in Lindenfels -Winterkasten (Germany)
April 2008: Zagreb – “BP-Club” (former Club of Bosko Petrovic)
October 2008: Bratislava Jazz Days
November 2008: Ludwigsburger Jazztage
Other concerts in Germany played in: Eisenach, Erfurt, Dresden, Chemnitz, Nordhausen, Regensburg (2x Bavarian Jazz Weekend), Lindau, Heilbronn?
A special highlight was a one-week tour of the “Stefan Wagner Quartet” through Germany in March 2010 with performances in Bamberg, Passau, Frankfurt, Detmold, Göttingen and Munich (“Unterfahrt”)
Concerts in Switzerland: Chur, Zurich, Pontresina.
In Vienna the “Stefan Wagner Group” played several shows in “Porgy and Bess” and “Jazzland”, 2x also in the former “Birdland” and also one concert as part of the “Jazz Fest Wien”; in addition to that several smaller gigs (mainly in quartet) in the “Tunnel” and “Cafe Concerto.”?
Across Austria the “Stefan Wagner Group” performed live for example in St. Pölten, Linz, Wels, Steyr, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Bludenz, Lienz, Hermagor and Graz.
